Late Shri. Laxmanrao Somasao Barbate founded the Group’s flagship firm, L.S. Barbate and Sons a Timber broker company in 1960 , Famous for his numerous social involvements, he was the chairman of Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s standing committee around 1970 and later had the honour of having a square (L.S. Barbate Square) named after him in Nagpur’s prominent Lakadganj locality. After him, His son Gangadharrao Barbate nurtured the timber business and expanded it multifold, giving it a new dimension. The next generation i.e. three brothers Satish Barbate, Nilesh Barbate and Vishal Barbate graduated by qualification had a fascination for automobile sector since childhood , Out of three brothers Vishal Barbate did his science graduation from Hislop College and his MBA in marketing from New Port University, California, USA.
